Commemorative Events
in Weehawken

The Township of Weehawken plans to host a Day of Commemoration on
Sunday, July 11th, 2004
to mark the 200th Anniversary of the Hamilton - Burr Duel. We are currently
finalizing the schedule for a full day of educational programs, including a
re-enactment of the Duel.

Bus Tour: The Battle of Long Island and The Old Stone House
Sponsored by the Aaron Burr Association
Cost: $25.00
Leaving from the Sheraton Weehawken at 9:30 AM and returning to Weehawken by 4:00 PM, this full day of history will include a guided tour of sites related to the Revolutionary War Battle of Long Island (in which Aaron Burr was a distinguished participant), a tour of the historic Old Stone House in Brooklyn, and a tour of Historic Weehawken with WHC Chairman Ed Fleckenstein. A light brunch is included.

Ferry Tour of Hamilton-Burr Historic Sites
This first of its kind nautical tour of sites related to the lives of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr will start with a 10:00 AM talk on the important role the New York and New Jersey areas were in the lives of these two great men. At 10:30AM, we will set off from Weehawken's Port Imperial Ferry Terminal aboard a New York Waterways tour vessel for our historic cruise. Our voyage takes us up the East River, past twenty specially selected sites and includes educational commentary prepared by historians and educators. We will return to Weehawken at approximately noon. Parking is available at the NY Waterway terminal ($7 before 10:00 AM, $9 after).
Reservations are required.
Tickets are $18.00 per adult with 10% off for students and senior citizens. You can register and pay on line using PayPal or a credit card right from this page.

Update - We have a few seats left on the bus to the Hamilton Grange which are set aside for
residents of the Township of Weehawken. If you a resident of Weehawken and would like to

Participants will include descendants of Hamilton and Burr, who will arrive at
the site by boat, thanks to
Floating the Apple. Participants will also include a representative
from Hamilton College and members of the Aaron Burr Association.

Weehawken is also served by New York Waterways Ferries and NJ Transit Buses.
New York Waterways will be running free bus service from the Weehawken ferry terminal at Port Imperial to the re-enactment site at Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken on July 11th.
